Beyond the WhiteBoard Has Reached CrossFit San Elijo!!!

We are very pleased to say that we have been following from afar for a little while now what promises to be a very good tool for CrossFit San Elijo Athletes--it's called "Beyond the White Board".

This is a new website created by CrossFitters for CrossFit workouts which we will begin implementing immediately and strongly encouraging you all to use to track your workouts, your progress, and your goals. Studies show that keeping a journal creates a sense of accomplishment and a sense of accountability. Beyond the WhiteBoard is tailored for the CrossFit Athlete.

It will track how you are doing in your workouts, how you are doing compared to others in CrossFit as well as at CrossFit San Elijo, and how CrossFit San Elijo is doing in regard to the output of the workouts when others do our Workouts--(note: the lionshare of programming is still the domain of the CrossFit San Elijo trainers)

We especially love the "Max Effort" Workouts, which are typically standardized workouts like "Max Pullups Unassisted" or "500 meter Row" which allows us to chart our progress over time, compare our progress to others that we see everyday, as well as the CrossFit Universe at large.

Equally fascinating is the weigh-in, body metric tracking, and the like. This allows you to correlate with time your body composition changes (if that is important to you) in relation to your performances, frequency of workouts, and dietary choices that we make as athletes...

It's Called "Beyond The WhiteBoard"

This is their mission statement:

"CrossFit changed our lives. From the garage we started in, to our Affiliate gym today, CrossFit has taken our idea of fitness to a whole new level. We were a group of friends consisting of web architects, economists, athletes and artists that had one thing in common, CrossFit. We began discussing and organizing our WOD results. The web architects started figuring out ways to capture the data while the economists discussed ways to analyze and display it. We concluded every intense workout with, "Put it on the whiteboard."

We soon realized, as many CrossFitters and Affiliate gyms have, that the whiteboard is limited by memory, space and depth. We wanted to capture the data and display the results, both past and present, in various ways, on the fly. We built a framework that Affiliate gyms can use to track, display, analyze and improve their members' progress. This site is made by CrossFitters; from our project managers to our web developers. It is our intention to take the empirical component of CrossFit's "Evidence-Based Fitness" to the next level. Gone are the days of taking pictures of the whiteboard, flipping through notebooks for old times, and performing work capacity/power output calculations by hand.

Our mission is simple, go beyond the whiteboard."

How to Access it:

sign-up at beyondthewhiteboard.com and sign-in (you can edit your Profile to add a Profile Picture--please do!),
click "view a list of gyms",
click "CrossFit San Elijo",
click "Join CrossFit San Elijo". That's it for you.

Then we will go to the "admin" page and "accept" all the members who affiliate themselves with our gym.

To Post WOD Results:
Login, click "post"(upper right navigation), and enter your results. If you scaled the workout from prescribed loads, you can put in substitution exercises, adjust weights, and adjust reps. Then click "Finished". Or, if our WOD description shows what the "Rx" (prescribed weights/movements/range of motion) is, and you subbed, then you simply do not click "Rx" when you post your results!

Make full use of all of the features, especially the Weigh In, Athlete Profile Features, Gym Page Features, and Meals Feature! OMG! This is Awesome!

Please note that not all workouts will be able to be captured on "Beyond the WhiteBoard," and that we still will use the Blog as the primary communication tool for CrossFit San Elijo.

So, a typical post CrossFit San Elijo Session might take the form of,

1. Finish WOD, high fives, come back to earth from orbit...

2. Drive in Car with shaky legs...

3. Get home, fiddle faddle around.

4. Make way to blog to find scores/pics/rib on your fellow members.

5. Hit "Click" to Sign in to Beyond the WhiteBoard" on the upper left hand side of the blog.

6. Have at it...

Note: We are painstakingly uploading all of our exercises and WOD's that are able to be captured by Beyond the WhiteBoard onto the Server. We'll assign a date that originated with the first posting of the WOD, that way if you see the WOD, you can review either your journal, or the Blog Posting that held your scores (if scores were kept) for input of your data.

For your viewing, some helpful adjuncts.
